out damn spot

September 11th isn’t the only time America has witnessed terrorism (it’s not a proper noun people, we use a small t.) We also watched in horror as our collective little girl, Patty Hearst, grew up into a big girl.

As our current manly-hunt for bin Laden continues, so does this story. A few years ago, Sara Jane Olson was picked up. How can a suburban soccer mom, who drives a mini-van and reads to the blind, be a terrorist? Like the movie Rashomon shows, it only looks insane until you realize you’re hearing many different narratives.

Interestingly, one of the narratives in Sara(h)’s story is told by Tony Serra, super hippie lawyer, whom Ted Kaczynski requested represent himself also.

And still it continues.
